This guy. This guy. I don't know what I can say that would even allow you to know the anger and frustration and embarrasment this man makes me feel.

What about this guy makes you so upset? If there's a church that will bring in young men and gear towards their needs, I'm all for it. You have to admit..he's right about most of what he said. I don't seem to read about you being a regular church going family so I'm confused about what is so upsetting to you, please share with us. Church is made for women and children without a doubt. I say something needs to be done to include the men and it sounds like this guy's plan works!!
arrogant, no? wow. reminds me of our old pastor...we've recently found out that our old church has turned into a cult of sorts...scary when the pastor starts thinking there's only one way to do things, and that it's *his* way...
this clip is just the tip of the iceberg for mark. "punch you in the nose dudes" "the 40% of men who go to church right now are "sissyfied dudes"? what? he forgets that Christ is a loving God. i just hate that he personifies God as a tough, gruff, army God. my God is a loving, forgiving, graceful God. my family and i do go to church...regularly even. we attended his church in our quest to find the right place for our family. i've heard his sermons first hand and would never, ever want my children to hear what he preaches from the pulpit regarding women. i do struggle with the idea of him pulling "dudes" into his church. i hope they hear only the message of God and not marks ideals of how he interprets what a christian family/life looks like. here's another clip if you're interested in more of his thoughts on building an army: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JIrIKbCz3n4

thanks steph, i was actually looking for that post this morning. i don't think tami is joking. don't know who she is but i think she's from out of town...i'm going to take another look at your post and hope that others will do the same.
i really liked "blue like jazz"--really struck a chord with me for a time...he's written a couple of others, one of which seemed a bit preachy for my taste... but, i got confused and was thinking he was connected somehow with mars hill in seattle. after i just did a bit of research, i realized i was mistake...he's in portland, or (you know, unfortunately, i'm not so good with geography!) anyway, you should read the book. it has nothing to do with mark driscoll, but it transformed some of my views about church and christianity :).
let's just say that this clip left me sort of speechless. you can see that he probably has a lot of influence over young people who are searching... and that can be quite disconcerting.
i just watched this and can't stop saying holy crap holy crap holy crap! dudes. what the....? yeah, i may tend towards a feminist-ish outlook on my life but i want to slap that guy. it disgusts me. and not because he's so macho, but because he is speaking as though he knows the end of it all....ergh.

to be honest i've been too nervous to even view this clip! this guy gets me so angry so fast, i don't know if i need more fuel for the fire!
it's actually quite tame by comparision. you should watch it.
