Eggs

We've slacked on the Easter spirit here in the Many house.
No hidden treats around the house, no folks coming over for an Easter dinner. And we're not going anywhere either. In the past we've invited several families over to celebrate, but this year it's going to be a quiet one.
My sister and her husband are going to go to church with us Easter morning and then we'll go out for brunch at one of the many wonderful brunch joints around Seattle. But that's it.
Today the kids and I went to Target to pick up some egg dye so they could at least continue this tradition. While we were there August thought he was being funny and slipped a bag of candy in the cart. I totally saw him do it but I let him think that I didn't. He started giggling and whispering to Hazel who then slipped a chocolate bunny in the cart. I ended up buying them just so they'd have some chocolate for Sunday afternoon.

We had a really nice Easter this year. The day started with a really challenging sermon at Church and continued with a yummy brunch with friends at our house.
The kids were pretty pleased with their loot as you can see in Hazel's eyes!

Loved the good conversation after the tasty meal.
And the cuddling that occurred while the food was digesting.
My sister Kat and her husband Justin came over (and brought yummy drinks) and the poor kids had to leave for another Easter meal...they may have rolled home!!

There may have been some naps that occurred as well...and we didn't even have any turkey!

After School

Well, we were supposed to go to our friends house after school today but Hazel has been hacking up a lung for the last few days and I just didn't feel right exposing other children to her germs. So we came right home. I'm not gonna lie, the kids were bummed but quickly recovered when I told them that we were making Easter Cards and eggs instead.
I'm not really into dying eggs. I think it's a big mess for no good reason, but the kids were each given a kit about a month ago and they were not going let another year go by without doing an Easter project!!
So I got out my apron:

boiled the eggs:

and got all the bowls of dye together:

and let them at it:

Hazel stayed the longest...I think she grew attached to her eggs:
