This Is Halloween
August and Hazel had another successful Halloween party.
They both did so much more for the this year's party. They made party favors for the kids who came, August labeled all the fool, Hazel decorated the table. It gets better and better as they get older.

The Soccer Dad, the Grim Reaper and a Witch.
Two dudes, a lady, a Pirate and of course, Snow White.
I Dream of Genie and a dead pilot.
Stephanie, I can't remember who you were...but you looked good! A Texan, Karate Kid and a Fairy-Princess-Ballerina.
An old man, the fortune teller, a kitty and a Ranger's Apprentice.
Death, a Witch, a Beatnik and Tink.
The Mad Hatter, a Hardy Boy and Nancy Drew.
The pictures are horrible...I was just in a hurry to snap each family before they all split up.
August and Hazel had the kids all downstairs watching Monster House, playing Rock Band and in the end they tried to watch House of Frankenstein with Francis.

Rain, rain
It's party time at the Many house today. There's no school (teacher in-service day) and we've got Francis staying with us for the weekend...and August has another friend and his sister over...and we had to invite the backyard girls over too...and their dog! It was a bit crazy for about a half hour until everyone figured out where they wanted to be and what they wanted to do...and now it's all quiet in the Many house. The girls wanted to play pick-up-sticks and the boys wanted to play Wii. Then the girls wanted to watch High School Musical 3 while the boys watched Iron Man. And the Dogs? They are shredding a new toy Kat made for them:

Saturday
Uncle Justin came by around 8:00am this morning to collect August so that they could make their way to an airplane show somewhere by the Tacoma Mall. Imagine August, who has become accustom to sleeping in past 10:00am, having to wake up at 7:30am! It was not a pretty sight but he managed to pull it together by the time Justin arrived.
When the field trip was over August sat in front of the TV for about 30 minutes until I told them to shut it off. He seemed pretty quiet until we got into the car...then...he started talking...and talking...about all the airplanes he saw and how big they were and the helicopter he actually GOT IN!! And a fighter plane of some sort that he was able to move the target in...HOLY COW!
Thanks Uncle Justin...August had a great time.
After he talked through everything he could remember about the day, Hazel, in a small voice said, "Hey Mama? You know I like boy stuff too."
Hazel and I had a relaxing morning together. I told her that she could pick our brunch destination and she chose:
As we walked toward the yummy goodness that is Mae's we passed our friends place...so sad that they are STILL on their FREAKING vacation...Hazel and I sang about how it was probably time for them to come home so that we can ring their bell and hang out with them...let's just move on.

We had a nice time together. After brunch we took a nice walk in the our old neighborhood and checked out all the cool new shops.

Lately
I thought of Scott when I drove past this the other day:
While it's not as cool as a rabbit making a shadow of a rabbit...I thought the fish looked pretty neat.
I found it while we were on our way to Greenlake park. Kathleen was taking Jonah around the lake and we happened to be going there as well so we all met up for a stroll...
with a quick break for lunch of course.
Today Hazel went to record a song for the upcoming Rosie Thomas Christmas album. We've been listening to holiday music non-stop during the day for over a week. It's been kind of fun belting out winter songs in the dead of summer!
I'll keep you posted as to when the record is released...Hazel is sure she's going to be on the radio...we'll see.
Earlier today we took a drive out to bellevue to pick some blue berries. I didn't bring my camera because I just knew that Ann would have hers ready to go...and thankfully I was right. Keep checking her blog for shots from the day...(how's that for pressure AK?!)

Faces, Balls and Accountants
The kids and I took a few hours out of our crazy schedule today to watch Kathleen and Justin play kickball. 
Oh My Goodness! I haven't laughed that hard in I don't know how long!!
Their team is called "Git Some" and the team they played against is called "Awesome Town". Each player on "Awesome Town" was a towns person- they had a mayor (who played the whole game with his brief case), a snowboarder (who played the whole game with his snowboard!!) and a tiger among other people. But the best towns person by far was the accountant:
This guys stayed in character the entire time. When he caught a ball he quickly dropped it to calculate it on his HUGE calculator that he kept with him. The first time he came up to kick he had all his files with him and when he made contact with the ball he threw all the files and promptly freaked out about the "Thompson File!!!!"
To begin each game the teams must have a skit. Kathleen and Justin came with a spear (that Justin created) and when the time was right...they set fire to it!!!
The kids were a bit hungry so we ran to the Plaid Pantry to grab some grub:
The kids went to town on food I wouldn't normally buy them. I think all the food coloring and artificial flavors had an effect on Hazel!!

Time
I'm happy to report that Trey and I have been married 10 years now! 
*note that one of my eyes is smaller than the other...this was taken after many glasses of yummy drinks and a great glass of wine.
We celebrated our anniversary in style on May 31st with a grand dinner at Canlis.
The kids were spending the night at Ann and Dave's house and were fed well too. They just love going on overnights with them. Thanks Ann!!
Our trip to Sasquatch was so much fun, thanks to Kathleen and Justin Boden! We would not have been able to spend my birthday weekend together at this great location without the two of them watching our childrend AND our dog. Thanks Kathleen and Justin!!
the view was amazing and the shows were great. The last time Trey and I went to Cave B I spent most of the time enjoying the room. This time I watched more shows and met more people. 
Rainn Wilson announced a bunch of bands as a way to promote the movie he has coming out. 
At one point I was sitting on the grass waiting for the next show when this group of people passes me...Trey mouthed that it was M.I.A. Holy Cow! We ran to watch the show but I could only handle 4 songs. She was amazing...it was the crowd I couldn't handle. I guess I'm just getting too old!

Another Week Down
Whew! Made it through another week as a kindergarten teacher!
I was able to have a little mini dance party with the kids. We danced to this song by Liz Mitchell and Lisa Lobe called "Dance Stop"
They love it. We actually dance to it once a day right after journal time...the kids need to wiggle!
Trey and August came home from 3rd grade camp in the middle of the day. They've been running around town like crazy trying to find my birthday present (I've no idea what they're getting me!) Hazel went to our local flower shop (she calls it a fairy store) and bought me some beautiful flowers.
Last night Hazel went to see High School Musical Live on Stage with Kathleen Boden. She's had a permanent grin on her face all day.
I'm ready to get out of Seattle for the long weekend. Thanks Kat and Justin for taking care of the kids and Tank while I drink wine and relax at Cave B!
