A Birthday to Remember

Not sure how this party will be topped! Our friend Jonah was celebrating his 10th and we were on the invite list. How luck are we?
Here's a sneak peak at what we got to do:
Yup! Kangaroos! At the party! Hopping around the yard! And there was a baby Wallaby! It was the softest thing I've ever felt in my whole life.
The kids always love visiting Jonah and we look forward to his birthday parties every year but honestly? Not sure how they are gonna top this one!
I've posted all the pictures to my gallery...feel free to check them out.

Birthday

It was a great day for me. Things started with some beautiful flowers from my brother and sister-in-law:
Aren't they lovely?
It was a beautiful day out here, we are known for our cloudy skies, but the sky on the day before my birthday was just wonderful. Big, fluffy, white clouds against a bright blue sky:

Hazel spent the weekend at her first Girl Scouts camp and we asked our friends the Nyssen family if they could watch August overnight so I could have some adult time. Sadly our day alone consisted of which restaurants we would go to!
First off Paseo:
We waited for our food and didn't complain once. Amazing Cuban sandwiches, so worth the wait!!
After spending some time downtown we decided on meeting some friends at this little hole in the wall called Delancy. This place always has a super long wait and we haven't wanted to take the kids there because of it:
While we were eating dinner this guy walked in who looked just like my friend Mike G...it was almost as good as having him here:
After dinner...I got Iced!
Then we all went to the cinema to see an important film:The next morning we hosted a birthday brunch with friends. Trey made an egg scramble and I made some sweet rolls. Kat brought some pastries from a bakery by her house and the fixings for mimosas. It was a nice way to celebrate my day.
And having a birthday on Facebook just about blew my mind. I couldn't keep up with all the friends, far and near, who wished me a great day!
Thanks everyone!!

My Boy August

Happy Birthday August!
I realized, after looking through all my pictures, that I haven't scanned in your baby pics yet...I've really gotta get to that. You were an amazing first born son. You are an amazing big brother and you're turning into a great young man.
Happy 11th to you my son.
I love you.

Birthday

Happy Birthday Hazel!
Your dad made cookies for you to bring to school today.
We are going to a Mexican Restaurant with the families you've invited- Aunt Kat, Uncle Justin, The Bazan Family and Jonah.
You've been talking on the phone non-stop with all your grandparents who love you so much.
I can't wait to see what year 8 brings you.
You are loved.

Hazel Many

Hazel is celebrating her birthday with some girlfriends today after school. I'm walking them all home with Penny. Tank, who loves jumping up on folks is spending the day at work with Trey. The girls will love walking with pretty Penny...she's so petite and is always happy to be with people...she'll make the journey home seem shorter than it is.

I did a whole lotta running around this morning. Picked up a dozen balloons, cookies and a few more party favors for her friends. Hazel decided on a home party (woo-hoo!) this year and wanted to watch the new Tinker Bell movie (thank you Netflix!), eat pizza, do some shrinky-dinks and share some cookies from Specialty Bakery. Done and done.

On the way to school this morning (we drove so that we could enjoy a nice pre-birthday breakfast) this song was playing on the radio...now I am not a fan of Ray La Montagne , but the chorus was a pretty good way to start Hazel's pre-birthday. She has made my life so much better. I love holding that girl's hand.
I love dancing around the living room with her. Her voice on the phone is one of the best sounds I can think of. But I should stop- it's not even her birthday yet...we'll save the real mushy stuff for the 17th.

Happy Birthday!

It's Trey's birthday today. Wick and Chee Chee sent him his favorite southern treats just in the nick of time, so I woke early today to warm the oven so he can wake up to the yummy smell of Sister Schubert's Blueberry Rolls. He's going to be so happy.

Hauntings

The witch came back...and she brought along a few of her little friends!

Trey's birthday is tomorrow! We're going to take him to see Where the Wild Things Are after dinner...I've already bought our tickets as I'm sure it's going to be a sold out show.
We were talking about how birthdays become less and less an event during the ages of 31-49. You know, you have a big party to make yourself feel better when you turn 30, but then each year just comes and goes until you turn another big milestone, like 50. It's not depressing, it's just another day with the hopes of something special like dinner at your favorite place.
But we'll make Trey feel special. The kids picked out the gift they wanted to give him about a month ago...it's been sitting in my closet since then. August wants to take him out to get a skateboard so they can go to the skate parks together...so sweet. I think they're going to do that at some point on Sunday.
Saturday we have plans for August's soccer game and then a trip with Ann, El and Nils to the pumpkin patch. We might even go to the school's fall carnival if we're not too water logged from the earlier events.
It's a big weekend here at the Many House.

Birthday Boy

August celebrated his 10th birthday last week. He opted to invite some friends over for Wii games followed by pizza from the place down the street and Trophy cupcakes. The cupcakes fell in transport but the boys loved them just the same.

The boys being...boys.
El gave August a super funny book called Wreck this Journal. All the boys loved it and immediately began following the directions on each page. This page said to chew it.
El also gave August this amazing drawing of a robot.

With all the Many birthdays done we can now focus on Christmas (and my dad's birthday).

Hazel's 7th Birthday Party

Hazel had her birthday party tonight. She invited a hot list of gals and our friend Francis to go to a gymnastics center for an hour of sweaty playtime followed by an hour of pizza, cookies, water and a wrapping paper fight.

Tomorrow is her actual day of birth and we're going out to eat at Buca with Aunt Kat and Uncle Justin along with our friends the Isreal family.
